Hello and welcome to our newsletter.
This month is a busy time in our calendar with preparations underway for the Spirit of Chellaston event to be held on Saturday 15th June on Swarkestone Road Recreation Ground commencing at 12.00. It is a great opportunity for families and friends to meet up, enjoy the entertainment in the marquee, visit the many local groups and organisations who will be offering a wide range of products, information and for the children Appleton’s funfair. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for a nice sunny day.
The Community Centre will be the focal point for various facilities and of course somewhere to enjoy the opportunity to rest those weary legs. The 2nd Chellaston Brownies have been able to be part of the Chellaston in Bloom initiative planting out a number of tubs with bedding plants around the garden to complement our shrubs and baskets. The Committee will once again be serving refreshments throughout the day which will include filled rolls, our new jumbo hot dog and a range of homemade cakes along with hot and cold drinks.
In addition within the main hall annexe we will be displaying some information to raise awareness about the Centre expansion project we would like to see take place in the future and welcome any comments you may have either on the day or by contacting us through firstname.lastname@example.org. We are unable to meet many new hirer requirements bringing different activities to the Centre therefore the Trustees are looking to extend the Centre creating a multi-purpose activity suite.
Hiring the Community Centre for individual private events continues to be popular especially for children’s birthday parties and we are now seeing a varied range of party themes taking place. Soft play for the younger ones, the traditional bouncy castle, ball pit, magicians, messy play, bugs and bones and a science rocks theme are just some of the different entertainments to be held at the Centre. If you are interested in planning an event please go to our website www.chellastonca.org and check out our facilities along with the diary which will show availability. We aim to keep Saturdays free all day as well as a 4 hour Sunday afternoon period for party hires. If you prefer to speak to someone our Bookings Secretary can be contacted on 07895386433. We also have a photo album on the Chellaston Community Centre facebook page.
Finally our thanks go out to John Jackson and his team at Swarkestone Nursery for once again providing the beautiful hanging baskets we are displaying on the fencing within the garden area. We will endeavour to ensure the baskets provide a continual display of flowers throughout the summer months for the benefit of our hirers and users of the Centre.
