The Association Trustees and Management Committee of Chellaston Community Centre would like to wish all residents, hirers and users of the Centre a happy and prosperous New Year and thank you for your support over the past 12 months.
We are pleased to report that the Centre continues to operate successfully with some excellent feedback from hirers. We do however need to generate additional funds to meet the ever increasing running costs, repairs to the building as well as upgrading facilities and continue to explore all fundraising opportunities.
2014 was a very busy year at the Centre for the Committee and volunteers with the main task of improving the garden area as well as the internal decor and raising Health, Safety and Environmental standards. The improvements to the Garden area, which was showcased at the Spirit of Chellaston event in June 2014, should now enable individual hirers of the Centre to enjoy the benefits of the external facilities during the Spring, Summer and Autumn months along with our regular hirer, Playdays Opportunity Group pre-school nursery who operate weekdays during school term.
Our upgraded small meeting room is now fully operational having been carpeted and new tables and chairs furniture purchased from the grant received from the Neighbourhood Board. This room and the large meeting room provide ideal facilities for individuals and small groups looking for a low cost hire venue.
We identified a need for an external notice board outside the main entrance and have recently been awarded a small grant from the East Midlands Airport Community fund for this which will be installed in the New Year and provide residents with information on Centre events and the latest news.
The Centre is in use every weekday with a range of activities however we have various afternoon and evening slots available for hirers who may wish to consider a new regular event for the benefit of Chellaston residents. At weekends we continue to see a rise in the number of one off hires, in particular parties, so early planning is recommended to avoid disappointment. It would be nice to see the re-instatement of a regular children’s activity, such as dance classes on a Saturday morning, if we can find a suitable organiser.
For the winter months we are promoting the use of the Centre on Friday, Saturday or Sunday evenings for a family and friends games evening. For just the hire of the Centre we can provide a range of indoor games facilities free of charge including 2 pool tables, air hockey, table tennis, table football, indoor bowls and badminton. So should you and your friends/neighbours want to consider getting together to arrange an event please contact us on 07895386433.
Finally if you can help us in anyway please get in touch through the above number or via our e mail address firstname.lastname@example.org.
