With Christmas and New Year facilities over and no doubt residents trying to shed a few pounds the Committee is  also trying to reduce but this time our expenditure and at the same time grow our income.

We are pleased to report that the Centre continues to operate successfully with some excellent feedback from hirers however we do need to generate additional funds to meet the ever increasing running costs, repairs to the building as well as upgrading the facilities.

The Committee has some ambitious plans but these will only be fulfilled with external funding therefore we continue to explore all avenues of fundraising. If you can help in anyway please get in touch via our e mail address enquiries@chellastoncommunityassociation.co.uk or telephone 07895386433.

Our upgraded small meeting room is now fully operational having been carpeted and new tables and chairs purchased from a grant received from the Neighbourhood Board. This room and the large meeting room provide ideal facilities for individuals and small groups looking for a low cost hire venue.

We identified a need for an external notice board outside the main entrance and have recently been awarded a small grant from the East Midlands Airport Community fund for this which will be installed in the New Year and provide residents with information on Centre events and the latest news.

The Centre is in use every weekday with a range of activities however we have various afternoon and evening slots available for hirers who may wish to consider a new regular event for the benefit of Chellaston residents. At weekends we continue to see a rise in the number of one off hires, in particular parties, so early planning is recommended to avoid disappointment. It would be nice to see the re-instatement of a regular children’s activity, such as dance classes on a Saturday morning, if we can find a suitable organiser.

We look forward to the coming months to get into the Garden to start preparing it for the Spring and Summer months when no doubt this area will be popular with our weekend children’s parties. We aim to undertake all the garden maintenance ourselves this year which will include regular grass cutting so if we have any willing volunteers please get in touch.

We have received our first booking for a family/friends Games evening in February and continue to receive an increasing number of enquiries for individual private events so word is getting around Chellaston and the surrounding area about our low cost facility.

Finally please bear in mind that as a Chellaston resident you are an automatic member of the CCA and indeed are part of the ownership of our Community Centre which the Association Trustees and Committee manage on your behalf.
