With the summer break over the CCA committee is resuming its activities of overseeing the management of the Centre together with continuing to raise the necessary funds to undertake various improvements within the Centre. Our next target is to modernise the kitchen and we are working on initiatives to generate the required funding for this project.
Our newly refurbished floor is looking extremely good having been sanded and sealed by the original company who installed it in 1988, this was badly needed and a big thank you to the Awards for All programme for financing it. Unfortunately we had to postpone the painting of the main hall due to the non-availability of our painter due to illness but we will aim to carry this out during various weekends over the coming months when the Centre is not booked for events.
We have over 16 groups using the Centre covering a varied range of activities during the week and our website www.chellastoncommunityassociation.co.uk displays a monthly diary of events. For parents looking to book a birthday party for your child the Centre is an ideal facility especially if you wish to make it a themed event. Contact details are on our website along with a diary and photos of the facility.
A key hirer, Playdays Opportunity Group, is a community based pre-school organisation which runs during term-time within Chellaston Community Centre. They currently have limited spaces available from September onwards for children aged two to four years. They are also eligible to accept Government funding for 2 and 3 year olds and were awarded a ‘good’ classification by Ofsted at the last inspection and have highly qualified (Early Years Teacher Status) friendly staff. Please go along and see the outdoor play area and EYFS related activities any time during the sessions which run: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 9.00-12.30pm and Wednesday, Friday 9.00-3.00pm where you can pick up an application form and Parents’ Handbook. For further information please see their website www.playdays.chellaston.com, Facebook page, or give them a call on 07842 097445 for more details.
An early date for your diary is the Association’s Annual General Meeting which will take place at the Community Centre on Saturday 31st October 2015 at 10.30am. It is a requirement of our constitution that we hold this meeting in October and that we attract sufficient numbers of Chellaston residents to form a quorum. By attending you will be able to hear about the past 12 month’s performance of the Association, in particular the work carried out by the Committee and volunteers on improvements to your Community Centre and finances. Furthermore we will be able to share with you possible future plans we are developing to provide increased facilities. We continue to look for residents of Chellaston who would like to play a part in the future of the Association by joining our committee. It is not an onerous task, we have committee meetings once a month and it would be nice to add some “younger” personnel to our group. We will also be offering some complimentary refreshments at the end of the meeting, which normally lasts about an hour.
