Hello and welcome to our newsletter.

This month sees many of our hirers away for the summer holiday break so it is a good time for the Trustees to carry out some essential maintenance and re-organisation tasks at the Community Centre. We have builders scheduled for the early part of the month to carry out daylight improvements within the main hall and adjoining rooms with hopefully not too much inconvenience for some hirers who will be carrying on activities throughout this period.

The improvements should certainly lighten the large meeting room making it more attractive to new hirers looking for a suitable low cost room incorporating a kitchen and toilet for new activities especially in the daytime. Currently this room is used for ballet, yoga, pilates, meetings and starting on a Monday morning in October Baby Signing.

Last month was an extremely busy time at the Centre for individual weekend hires with a range of parties and events held. It is good to see that residents from Chellaston and surrounding areas recognise that we have an ideal and safe venue suitable for holding various functions and events, especially children’s parties. We continue to advise anyone who will be planning an event this year to have a look at our diary on our website www.chellastonca.org to avoid any disappointment. Alternatively you can make an initial enquiry by giving Joyce a call on 07895386433.

We continue to look for volunteers to help with the many tasks and duties the Association has to perform to continue overseeing the management of the Centre. Green fingers, IT skills, social medial and journalistic skills, light DIY and admin are some areas where help would be appreciated.

Finally, a date for your diary is Saturday 13th October 2018 at 10.30 am in the Community Centre when we will hold our Annual General Meeting of Chellaston Community Association. As a charity it is an essential requirement that we have sufficient attendees to enable the meeting to take place. About an hour of your time along with free refreshments and to hear how the Association has performed over the past year. Of course this will be the time for new Trustees to be elected on to the Committee which is something we would welcome.
