Hello and welcome to our newsletter.

The Centre continues to be open right up to Christmas with our regular hirer events and individual weekend hires. Our pre-school hirer Playdays Opportunity Group will be holding a Christmas Market on Sunday 16th December between 9 and 11.30am in the Community Centre. The event is in aid of fundraising to provide a much needed secure and strong outside storage facility for the many toys and equipment the children use on a daily basis. The market will include a range of stalls, Santa will be in attendance and festive refreshments available. They are looking to as many residents to pop in to support this worthy cause.

During half term the Trustees were once again busy tidying the garden and making some further improvements within the Centre. We have managed to carry out some painting in the hall, main lobby and corridor, upgraded one of the internal doors as well as fitting hand dryers to all the toilets thereby reducing the use of paper towels this being one small environmental initiative.

Individual hirer bookings for weekend events since September has been extraordinarily busy such that apart from one or two dates we are fully booked for this year and have had to turn away a number of enquirers looking for a party venue. We display a diary on our website www.chellastonca.org and as we will be shortly starting the New Year would suggest that perhaps you plan ahead to make sure your event date is available.

Last month we had a new hirer start on a Monday evening at 19.45. Krav Maga is a non-competitive eclectic self defence system developed in Israel that involves boxing, muay Thai, jiu-jitsu, wrestling and grappling techniques along with realistic fight training. Perhaps one of your New Year’s resolutions, contact details are displayed on our website diary. January 2019 will also see the start on a Monday teatime of a Cheerleading academy for 7 to 12 years olds.

Don’t forget the Spirit of Chellaston Christmas Tree Lighting Event will take place on Saturday 8th December at R&R’s Sports Bar from 5pm onwards. Radio Derby presenter Andy Twigge aka Twiggy will switch on the lights and then a festive early evening of carols led by the Infant School Choir and the Community Choir with Santa in attendance.

Finally the Trustees of Chellaston Community Association would like to take the opportunity to wish Hirers and Users of the Community Centre together with residents of Chellaston a very Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year and we look forward to your continued patronage of the Centre and support in 2019.
