Hello everyone and welcome to our newsletter.

We are only three months away from the annual Spirit of Chellaston event to be held on Saturday 15th June 2019 on Swarkestone Road Recreation Ground. We understand the Chellaston Events team are well into the planning stages and they have a facebook page for contact regarding booking a stall for the event. The Centre will be open on the day providing hot and cold refreshments and of course the use of our facilities and we look forward to a seeing as many of you on the day.

We have recently installed an external notice board at the front of the Centre to showcase the regular activities which take place throughout the year as well as providing details of contacts and general information on the facilities within the building. We continue to advertise the Centre for private hire at the weekend, availability is all day Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Our Association facebook page hosts a photo album of the various facilities available and our website www.chellastonca.org displays a diary, on line booking form and a FAQ page providing many answers to questions enquirers raise. Our Centre is extremely popular so planning an event early is recommended to avoid the disappointment of your date not being available. If you would like to talk to someone please give us a call on 07895386433.

This month sees two new hirers starting at the Centre. Rainbows will be at the Centre on a Wednesday from 4.30pm and on a Monday afternoon and Tuesday teatime Liz will be running Extend sessions in the large meeting room. Extend provides gentle movement exercise to music for older people and anyone of any age who has limited mobility.

During half term week we made further improvements to our large meeting room by upgrading the lighting system. This 36 square metre room is self-contained with a separate entrance, toilet, small kitchen, baby changing facilities along with chairs and tables. We have some availability within the daytime and evenings so if you have an activity or event which would be suitable for this area please get in touch and we can show you around.

Finally we continue to work on our plan of expanding the Community Centre. Discussions are ongoing with Derby City Council officers and our Ward Councillors with regard to funding opportunities. The Trustees are also working with an Architect to develop some feasibility sketches and layout of what we now see as a standalone annexe to the existing building. It will be 2020 at the earliest before we see this in place however these are exciting times with a chance to put in place flexible facilities to cater for the wider range of activities that a Centre like ours need to accommodate.
