Hello Everyone
Last month we saw some external work undertaken at the Centre with the removal of the gable feature to the front elevation of the main entrance. We have been experiencing roof leakage problems on a number of occasions and hopefully we have sorted the problem avoiding any further disruption to our valued hirers and users. The Trustees are also in the process of installing wi-fi within the Centre and despite some civil engineering issues, not helped by the excavations on Swarkestone Road, we look forward to our hirers and users enjoying the benefits of this facility in the near future.
Now, one assumes you have done the majority of your Xmas shopping for presents by the time you read this, but if not, don’t forget about Playdays Xmas Market on Saturday morning 7th December in the Centre, we understand Santa will be making an appearance. It is a good opportunity for residents to support the fundraising efforts of this group who have continued to provide pre-school childcare at the Community Centre for Chellaston families over many years.
As we look back over the last 12 months we have been extremely busy with weekend hire private events, many being children’s parties. October, November and December weekend dates in particularly have been sold out. We are now taking bookings for 2020 and indeed 2021 and recommend early planning to ensure your date is available. Go to our website www.chellastonca.org and look for the “what’s on” page where you can check the diary for availability, a deposit secures your booking. Saturdays are available all day and Sundays between 13.30 until 17.30 apart from the first Sunday in the month when the duration is a little shorter. The Centre’s main hall, adjoining rooms, kitchen facilities and secure garden are covered within the hire and provide an ideal venue for you to organise you specific themed event.
Finally the Trustees of Chellaston Community Association would like to take the opportunity to wish Hirers and Users of the Community Centre together with residents of Chellaston and the surrounding neighbourhood a very Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year and we look forward to your continued patronage of the Centre and support in 2020.
