Welcome to our newsletter.
We are just over three months away from the annual Spirit of Chellaston event to be held on Saturday 20th June 2020 on Swarkestone Road Park, adjacent to the Community Centre. The Chellaston Events team are well into the planning stages and they have a facebook page (Spirit of Chellaston) for contact regarding booking a stall for the event. The Community Centre will be open on the day providing hot and cold refreshments and of course, the use of our facilities. We look forward to as many local organisations and groups taking part in this annual event.
Last month during the half term break we were able to sand and seal the main hall floor, this will benefit our users as well as overcoming some of the difficulties experienced in the floor cleaning process. Unfortunately, the continuing soggy conditions in the garden prevented us from thinning and reshaping the lime tree in the garden so this will be planned for the next school holiday period. One further improvement has been to install a fibre network into the Centre providing a free wi-fi signal throughout the building for users of our facilities.
We mentioned last month about moving forward with our plans to extend the Centre and are pleased to announce that Blair Gratton Architects have now been appointed to oversee the project. Initially our immediate aim is to develop an outline design and obtain planning consent. Last year we showcased our ideas for a stand-alone multi-purpose suite to the west of the Centre and although we have a long way to go any further comments would be welcome by contacting us at enquiries@chellastonca.org Such is the popularity of the Community Centre we have very limited availability for new regular hirer sessions within the main hall, some smaller group sessions (20 persons) can be accommodated within our large meeting room with various days and times available.
We are starting to move into the birthday party season when the Centre receives many enquiries for hiring our facilities for children’s and family party events throughout the Spring, Summer and Autumn months. The Centre has hosted many themed events arranged by parents and the main hall and external secure garden provides the ideal areas for inflatable equipment. Saturdays all day and Sunday afternoons are made available for private hire events which includes the use of many of our rooms and utility areas. If you are interested in hiring the Centre please visit our website www.chellastonca.org to view photos, prices and available dates.
Finally, we continue to look for volunteers to join our team to oversee the management of the Centre and the administration of our charity. It is a great opportunity to get involved in putting something back into your community and at the same time gain some understanding of charity operations. If you are interested, please get in touch through our website or call 07895386433.
