Hello Everyone
Our newsletter this month is about supporting our cause to benefit residents of Chellaston and the surrounding neighbourhood.
We are delighted to announce that the CCA has been selected to take part in the Co-op Local Community Fund. We are one of 3 causes within the local community which Co-op Members can select to support over the next 12 months.
Our cause is to establish a secure public toilet within the Community Centre, which can be accessed externally from the east side of the building.
As you may be aware the Chellaston High Street public conveniences were closed in 2008. This has on many occasions resulted in visitors within the area, in particular families using the Children’s Playground, trying to gain access to the toilets within the Community Centre. The Centre is hired out privately to various groups and therefore the existing facilities are not readily accessible unless we hold public events.
The CCA Trustees, as part of their initiative to expand the Community Centre, would like to incorporate a uni-sex toilet on the east side of the building, close to the children’s playground and car park. The design, which would be suitable for disabled access, would encompass anti-vandal products together with internal cladding ensuring easy clean features.
The management and operational costs as well as the general upkeep of this facility would be the responsibility of the Community Association, who will also determine hours of access.
How can you support us? – Co-op members can select to support our cause until Oct 2021, this can be viewed by the following link ttps://membership.coop.co.uk/causes/43390.
The more members who select and shop at Co-op stores, the more funds we will accrue, 2p in every pound of your shopping bill will go to our cause. You can become a member by downloading the Co-op app or go to coop.co.uk/membership.
Please make the effort to help this worthy cause.
Finally, the Trustees would like to take the opportunity to wish our hirers, centre users and residents of Chellaston and the surrounding area a very Merry Christmas.
