Hello and welcome to our newsletter.
We are pleased to see the return of some of our regular hirer groups in the Centre after such a long time. The Playdays Opportunity Group has managed to continue with their pre-school operation throughout most of the pandemic along with support groups such as the Well Child Health Clinic and the AA organisation. We now have in operation various fitness and relaxation groups during weekdays along with a successfully run children’s tutoring operation. All groups have developed their own risk assessments for Covid precautions and in addition are following the Centre Covid risk assessment.
Three new activities will start this month, on a Tuesday afternoon at 2.15pm Staying Steady will be running chair-based classes to improve movement especially for the senior population who have had little opportunity to exercise. Early Friday evening Lydia will be running Creative Expressive Workshops in the large meeting room which focus on the use of art and movement to improve wellbeing, confidence, and self-esteem in a safe non-judgemental and confidential environment. In the main hall the “Order of the Blade” group will be perfecting the art and science of martial art combat. Contact information for all these activities can be found by clicking on the activity displayed in our Centre diary, if you are interested.
The latest announcement regarding Stage 4 unlocking means that for private hire events, such as children and family parties, the earliest date we can commence hiring is Saturday 24th July 2021. During the school summer holidays we will be making the Centre available both during the week and weekends for private hire. You can view our facilities and calendar on our website www.chellastonca.org or speak to our Bookings Secretary, Joyce on 07895386433.
Disappointing news is the cancellation of the Spirit of Chellaston event due to be held on Saturday 10th July. The SOC team has reluctantly made this decision given the circumstances and the fact that the Centre would also not be available due to COVID requirements.
Finally, a big thank you to John and the Team at Swarkestone Nurseries for providing the beautiful hanging baskets we are displaying within the Centre garden, we will ensure they are well watered.
