Welcome to our March newsletter.

It was a quieter time at the Centre last month with the school half term break although we had several regular hirers in attendance and plenty of private weekend events. We now have some availability of our Main Hall, on a Wednesday from 8pm and a Friday evening from 7.15pm. If a regular hirer is looking for a venue, please contact us on 07895386433 for more information.

The Centre remains available for private hire at the weekend, especially for children’s birthdays and family events. This ideally is a good time to plan ahead as we know when we move into late Spring and Summer, we have to disappoint many enquirers. If you are interested in planning an event, please visit us on www.chellastonca.org/hiring-a-room and take a video tour of the facilities on offer.

On the safety front we have purchased a Defibrillator suitable for all age ranges and this will be in a prominent position inside the building.  We hope it will see very little use but is a welcome addition to our health and safety facilities within the Centre. Arrangements will be made to undertake some training for our Trustees and regular hirers of the Centre.

Chellaston residents may have noticed some changes to the scenery on High Street last month. The removal of the toilet block is the first stage of our partnership with the CRA to create the Community garden. It has been a time-consuming process in reaching this stage which was initially discussed back in early 2019. The legalities of establishing a lease, planning consent, finding the necessary funding and designing something suitable for the district centre has not been easy. The continuing surge in material and labour costs is not helping our case and any assistance with fundraising would be most welcome or indeed a donation which can be made via www.chellaston.org.uk.  The next stage of the project should see the construction work commencing in April to create the walls and the various stone planters. This will be undertaken by a Chellaston based landscaper Robins Nest.
