Hello and welcome to our newsletter.

The winter season is now with us and of course the Christmas shopping experience will shortly be in full flow and no doubt a visit to your loft to find the decorations will be one of your jobs to be put on the list.

During half term, when it was a little quieter at the Centre, we have been able to cut back our shrubs in the garden and sort some of the never-ending maintenance tasks out. This includes establishing an external water point for our CRA colleagues to gain easier water access during the plant watering season for the High St Community Garden.

Our Annual General Meeting took place at the end of October and the Chair of Trustees reported a positive position regarding the condition of our facilities and the financial status of the Association. With the Community Garden project now completed the Trustees are continuing to focus on improvements and an expansion to the premises. The Chair reported that costs within the building industry had spiralled to such an extent that the current design for constructing an annexe to the west side of the building was no longer viable. Whilst disappointing, the team are now reviewing alternative solutions, perhaps not as ambitious, but providing increased floor space and garden area, at a lower building cost and will report progress through our social media streams when we have more details.

This month we are showcasing one of our long-standing regular activities Zumba which takes place on a Tuesday evening from 7.30 to 8.30 pm in the main hall. Provided by Beat Feet Academy of Dance the class takes the “work” out of workout by mixing low and high-intensity moves for an interval style, calorie-burning dance fitness party. Once the Latin and World rhythms take over, you’ll see why Zumba Fitness classes are often called exercise in disguise. You can join the fun with a 4 week pay as you go trial @ £6.50 per session. Julie runs the class and can be contacted by calling her on 07840447024 or julie.zumba@hotmail.co.uk.

As mentioned previously we have over 20 regular hirers using the facilities each week covering a wide range of activities and support. If you are considering starting up a new activity or support group please get in touch and we can discuss with you what availability we have either in the main hall or self-contained large meeting room.

Finally, as we head towards 2023 now might be a good time to think about planning a future event. The Centre operates between 08.00 and 21.30pm at weekends and is ideal for small family events, children’s parties, baby showers etc. Contact us on 07895386433 or via our website https://chellastonca.org.
