Welcome to our February newsletter.

We continue to be busy each weekday with a range of activities taking place within the Main Hall and Large Meeting Room facilities at the Centre. For the children we have Playdays Opportunity Group operating early years sessions each morning and two afternoons during school term time and activities such as Dance, Rainbows, Brownies, Tae Kwondo and Kick Boxing providing after school sessions on various days.

You can find contact details from the diary on our website https://chellastonca.org/chellaston-community-centre-diary. We currently have space availability in the Main Hall on a Wednesday between 3.30 and 4.45 and Thursday and Friday between 3.30 to 5.45 so if any hirers are interested in putting something on, ideally for the children, then please get in touch.

How would you like to be involved in establishing a Friends of Chellaston Community Centre Group? Fundraising is an important part of supporting Community facilities and we are hoping that perhaps a few Chellaston residents will come together to help us with this latest initiative. The group will have free access to the Centre to run fundraising initiatives to a wider audience.

You may ask why aren’t the existing Trustees undertaking this role? The Trustees, who are all volunteers, oversee the management and operation of the Centre, which in today’s environment is a significant administrative and time-consuming role. Whilst the Trustees aim to make financial surpluses, these are insufficient to undertake some of the improvement tasks needed within the building.

We have been successful over the past 7 years with various grant applications and have the experience in making the necessary sound proposals. However, some providers require a financial provision from a Third-Party Contributor, which unfortunately cannot be the CCA, and this is where a Friends group could help. If this is something you may be able to assist with, please get in touch by calling 07895386433 or enquiries@chellastonca.org

Finally, “Get your party started” – a reminder that the Centre is available for private hire on Saturdays all day until 21.30 and Sunday afternoons. It continues to be very popular with family events, in particular Children’s parties with the hire consisting of the main hall, cloak/activity room, kitchen and secure garden area, so please plan ahead to avoid disappointment. The hall is suitable for bouncy castles (size restriction applies) as well as in the garden. You can view the premises on video and obtain all the necessary information and pricing by visiting https://chellastonca.org/hiring-a-room
