Welcome to our September newsletter.
Now for an update on the expansion plans at the Centre. Our proposal to create a building annexe was sadly curtailed last year, due to spiralling building costs following the covid crisis and inflationary pressures within the construction industry.
The Trustees were however still determined to expand the current facilities in some way and a pan was drawn up involving changes to the large meeting room. This would see an expansion of this room into a 75 square metre open space area, with a service area providing toilets, a small kitchen and storage facilities. A new entrance would be created on the north side of the building, accessed from the pathway adjacent to the car park.
We are pleased to advise that planning consent has been obtained and a construction company identified to undertake a Design and Build contract. As the leaseholder of the premises, we must obtain a licence from the landlord, Derby City Council and this is in progress. Once this is finalised, we should be able to place an order for construction work with a completion date envisaged in early 2004.
In the meantime, our main hall activities continue as well as private hire availability at weekends for private events, such as children and family parties. For information regarding booking the Centre visit our website https://chellastonca.org/hiring-a-room or give us a call on 07895386433.
