Welcome to our short newsletter.
As we move into Spring let us hope we can all look forward to an improving situation with this pandemic allowing restrictions to reduce and we can start to re-open the Centre for many activities which have been sorely missed by residents over the past 12 months.
Brownies, Rainbows, Dance, and many fitness organisations, as well as activities for the not so young, are just some of the groups who have been unable to operate for such a long time. We hope to see many of these organisations returning when legislation allows and rest assured, we will continue to maintain the premises as a COVID secure facility.
As mentioned in previous newsletters we will not be able to hire the Centre for private individual events until such time that we are advised that it is safe to do so. Once again, many apologies to families wishing to book for a special celebration. You can get in touch with us if you would like to make a provisional booking from early Summer onwards by contacting our Bookings secretary on 07895386433.
The Trustees continue to work on developing proposals for the expansion of the Community Centre with our Architect and the aim is to provide you with more details in the coming months, in particular some of the additional features we are encompassing within the design.
Finally, in conjunction with our Chellaston Residents’ Association colleagues, we are working hard to attract the necessary funding to enable the creation of a Community Garden on High Street. This requires that we take a lease for the land, occupied by the disused public conveniences, and furthermore will necessitate planning consent for the demolition and formation of the garden. Our partnership is in discussion with Derby City Council and our Ward Councillors regarding the release of public open space funding towards this Community project and we look forward to a positive outcome shortly.
